I’m looking through the posts and I don’t understand a detail here. In order to apply online with SEF, is it only required that we transfer the money to a bank in Portugal or should we have invested the money we transferred in a fund (I’m thinking of fund instead of real estate).

You must purchase the participation units in the fund and obtain all of the required certifications before you can submit a complete application.
You can sign up on ari.sef.pt if you want to see what’s required. However, signing up on your own will block your lawyer from being able to prepare your application for you.
