UK criminal record for GV - ACRO or DBS?

I would appreciate feedback from the fellow Brits or UK residents - which option did you go for when obtaining the UK criminal record? ACRO or DBS?
The gov.uk website points out to ACRO for visa purposes and to DBS for employment purposes, but then the ACRO website only lists a few countries but not Portugal.
Any thoughts? DBS seems to be slightly cheaper…

ACRO - that is the one that is accepted. Takes time and is expensive, and expires within 3 months (for GV purposes). So get one when you know your submission timeline.

has to be ACRO - DBS is only for employment purposes in the UK, and therefore does not cover every singe law in the UK…unlike the ACRO check - so if you ever infringed the horse passport regulations beware lol!
