WIKI: HOW-TO: Golden Visa Renewal Mega Thread (January 2025 →)

I expect they should convert, and charge lower fees as per this table:

Receção e Análise = € 97,60
Concessão ou Renovação Autorização de Residência (AR) Temporária = € 83,90
Subtotal = € 181,50

  • plus maybe this line as well, I am not too sure:

ENTREGA PRESENCIAL DOS TÍTULOS DE RESIDÊNCIA = € 29,20

Possible grand total = € 210,70

But we shall see in due course!

Thank-you, I asked this question on another thread and the answer was 3090 Euros. All very confusing. I wonder if it is random what you are charged? The only thing that is certain with this whole process is that nothing is certain, sadly.

Our fee was €3090.40 per person at our ari renewal appointment in June of this year. We paid with a credit card. The appointment was in person at Setúbal, complete with biometrics, and our attorney obtained the appointment via email request to aima 3 months prior. Our cards expired in March 2025. We invested in property to renovate.

So… just totally random then?

Evidently? I had asked our attorney if we would be converted to a D2 and she said no, we would always be ari. So maybe that has something to do with it?

May I ask if you have already received your new card, and does it say ARI?

Yes but they don’t know how much they have to pay. It’s on the govt site they you have to pay as soon as you book. Anyway I have worked with the law firm (Gonçalo Mendes Leal at NSM) for years and so have my friends. They are very honest.

Haven’t gotten the card, and we don’t expect it for 3+ months. Plus we had some complications (our building was stolen from us) so not sure the renewal will be approved. We’re in the middle of a lawsuit trying to regain ownership of the property, so may have to pursue an appeal if our renewal is declined due to not owning the investment property.

This is 180 degrees off from what our lawyers have been saying for the last year. We did a property investment as well, and for the real estate option only we are told the GV will renew as a D2 entrepreneurial for the 181€ figure per person. For three years. Also, we have been trying to get an appointment since November 24, and there have been no appointments on offer.

For the fund avenue it would be as you say, is my understanding. But I haven’t really been paying attention to that.

Maybe it has something to do with when we initially applied? She was as adamant about ours not changing to a D2, when I asked her, as yours are about being changed to D2.

We did the €380k rehabilitation route fwiw.

As for the appointment, our attorney emailed aima this March requesting a renewal appointment and received a response the next day for two appointments this June, one at 9 and the other at 930, both in Setúbal.

She seemed surprised at the quick response, and had indicated it before the response came that it just depends on who’s responding to emails that day.

But to not have gotten an appointment since November seems overly long.

We just got got notice of appt for renewal on Sept 23. As they have our biometrics we do not have to be there but are now scrambling to get police certificates on time.

Actually they have just asked to make sure payment is made before the appointment date.

Does anyone know if the renewal is 2 or 3 years?

Here’s a silly question - I got my Notificação de Agendamento for a rewewal, and it says I can view/edit the appointment online “Na área pessoal do Portal da AIMA (My SEF) poderá alterar ou cancelar o seu agendamento (funcionalidade disponível para renovação de Título/Cartão de Residência e Prorrogação de Permanência). Caso tenha efetuado o seu agendamento, via Portal SAPA ou Portal ARI, poderá alterar ou cancelar o mesmo por essa via.” or “In Portal AIMA client area (MySEF) you may change or cancel your appointment (function available for renewal of the Residence Permit/Card and the Extension of Stay). For appointments made in SAPA Portal or ARI Portal, you may change or cancel your appointment in that area.”

Anyone know what site they’re talking about? I don’t see it in ari.sef.pt, or in sef.pt. My logins don’t seem to work. Thoughts?

Has anyone here with a ARI card expiry coming up in Aug/Sept/Oct tried to make a renewal appointment, or has the new online portal only been open for July expiries?

I haven’t been following renewals updates as closely as the citizenship saga and couldn’t see a clear answer searching through this thread. I know in the past before everything fell to pieces, SEF used to open renewals 3 months prior to your card expiry date, but I have no idea what beast we’re dealing with now.

Open for August expirations now.

Does any of the ‘portals’ work for dependants yet?

Ok thanks for that info. Just to clarify, are you confirming that Sept/Oct expiries are not open for renewals yet? Or only that you know August is open? And do you happen to know how long August has been open?

I’m trying to work out if they are back on the 3 month advance booking schedule or just opening up month by month, and when.

They seem to be opening month by month, monthly
