Once biometrics appointment is issued, does it mean it is pre-approved already? even with the new process
There are for sure several here who have initial application dates later than @courtney3327 (applied in Aug 2022), who have received the AIMA email asking them to resubmit refreshed documents. I cannot determine if the allotment of biometric appointments is random or follows some pattern.
Our initial application date is June 2023. We received the email to submit refreshed documents (email received directly in applicants email account - not the lawyer) from noreply.uari@aima.gov.pt, at the end of December 2024. Refreshed documents were submitted in Feb 2025. No biometrics appointment received so far.
We have to keep in mind that the penalty of missing the submission of refreshed documents is AIMA deeming an application ‘abandoned’
(I tried to send this message in the thread a few minutes ago and a prompt popped up that it needs to be approved by a moderator, before it goes live. This was something new for me. Anyone else experienced this?)
but I have not gotten the email yet???
Mine was in the spam folder in Dec.
June 2022 initial application and Jan 2025 resubmission. No word from AIMA re. Biometrics
We’re in the same situation (received the email, portal was opened, I closed it by mistake, lawyer is sending emails to AIMA to get it reopened).
Our lawyer seems willing to try your lawyer’s approach but has said there are several AIMA offices inside a “Loja do Cidadao” across Portugal.
Which location did your lawyer go to?
Not sure, i guess porto. I have sent an email to my lawyer. But your lawyer can go to any Loja office, especially outside big cities as it wont be busy. I suggest she starts with the nearest to her office
Did you check if the AIMA portal status changed from “waiting analysis " to " pending document submission” as people who received emails have their status changed and portal open
And which year you have filed your application as i understood they are prioritizing applications for year 2022 and what is left of 2021
Thanks
Thank you!
Please let me know when you hear back from your lawyer with the office location.
Thank you for your email. Our applications where in 2022 and the status says pending document submission.
Which means the portal is now open for you and your lawyer needs to submit updated police clearance certificates, marriage certificate, birth certificates for kids asap. You need to do that before end of june to avoid your application being dropped by AIMA. The email was just to tell you that portal is open. Better to update asap as you wont be receiving any biometrics appointments without updating them
I submitted my refreshed doc and current status is “Awaitting analisys”. is this correct status ?
Someone above said they first applied Oct. 22, which is after my family’s applications
I first submitted Aug 2023.
I filed an injunction against AIMA in July 2024.
I resubmitted March 15 2025. This changed my application on the AIMA site from “Awaiting Resubmission” to “Awaiting Analysis”.
I have not gotten biometrics yet, when I do I will update here.
So I received the email from AIMA on 27 Dec and got all of my documents refreshed and sent to my lawyer. When they logged in to my AIMA account my status was “Awaiting analysis” so they couldn’t upload the new documents. They reached out to AIMA (assume by email) to request opening of my application but haven’t heard back in a month. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
It seems in some cases the lawyer can ask AIMA to open the portal see AIMA Appointment --> Did anyone manage to schedule appointment after uploading the documents again - #91 by Ctayah
Hi. I m posting again my experience on this matter.
In my case, when AIMA opened the portal for me, i closed it next day by mistake. So my lawyer was sending emails on daily basis to AIMA to open the portal but AIMA never did. So after 2 months, i asked my lawyer to go to one of AIMA offices called "loja do cidadao, based on another lawyer recommendation, and she was able to open the portal for me on same day. I paid some fee since the lawyer had to wait maybe half a day. And the. was able to submit documents again on AIMA portal
I dont know which loja the lawyer went to. I sent her an email and didnt hear back. But any loja should do i guess
Hi everyone.
I do not feel that AIMA give that enough appointment after the resubmission , how they will be able to finish all the pending applications before end of June ?
My initial submission on Sep 2022 and re submit on 20 of June and nothing until now
Whatever AIMA, your lawyers, consultants or some of the marketers of the program say on this platform, take it with a pinch…no with a load of salt.
