Banks offering mortgages for properties abroad

Hi everybody,

So…I’m an Italian citizen, with residency in Romania and living in Istanbul, but born in Albania. I know, it sounds like the start of a joke.

I have all my income declared and taxed in Romania. I’d like to know if anyone knows of banks, in Romania or anywhere, that can grant mortgages to citizens of a different country for properties to buy in whatever country. I know this is too flexible but yeah, I’m just looking for the bank that gives me the best rates to buy anywhere that I want (and I have not decided yet where)

Let me know if you have any ideas.

as far as I understand, mortgages would be offered by the bank based in the same country where the property is located, NOT where the applicant located.
E.g. if you go to buy a property in Albania, you’d apply in an Albanian bank for your mortgage. Otherwise how would a foreign bank exercise their claim upon such property should they want to repossess?
