Hello all, last Christmas I received the email request from AIMA to resubmit my documents (no biometrics yet). I gathered these and sent scan to my attorney. Although initially my portal was open for uploading of these documents, my attorney says it suddenly changes status (presumably due to a system error?) and it is now āEm anĆ”liseā which means it doesnāt allow any uploads.
Any advice on how to contact AIMA? Am I now in the black hole of ARI applications?

Hi Noraa, I got moved to this thread. Please let me know what the 2nd lawyer advises. Iām glad there is a thread devoted to this topic as you and I can not be the only applicants in this situation.
For those new to this thread, my status was also Awaiting submission, but once my attorney received my new apostilled documents it now says Awaiting Analysis and she is unable to submit documents. She said we will have to wait for an appointment and do it in person. Iām not sure we will get an appointment without the documents being submitted. I am a bit concerned our application will get purged from the system altogether.
My attorney has now sent an email to AIMA asking them to allow the submission of documents and asking for clarification about the status of our application āAwaiting Analisysā.
I will keep everyone posted on whether it made any difference.
She also wrote: āLojas AIMA are not receiving anyone in person in related with Golden Visa applications. GV applications can only be processed by e-mail and online, in AIMA websiteā.
So, I will try to get my attorney to send the email to AIMA every week and hope one of them gets a reply.
We will be in Portugal for a month in September, so if anyone knows what I can do myself in person, please let me know.
Same situation, except our portal never opened and status is āacceptedā. Our lawyer also said AIMA is not accepting in person requests and have been emailing them (nothing as yet).
Did your attorney explain what the status āAcceptedā means? Does that mean you can go to Biometerics with your documents instead if submitting them on the website?
No, they continue to appeal AIMA via written communications. We have no biometric appointment so no idea what to expect (i.e. if we will get invited)
Iāve consulted another lawyer who said that if the portal isnāt open for uploading of documents, then we should have the documents sent to AIMA via registered mail, just to be sure we comply with what they requested in the email. But he doesnāt actually believe that this step of refreshing documents will necessarily move things along quickerā¦
This is just an awful situation to be in. Keep me posted please.
Hi Noraa, I guess that is the smartest thing to do at this point so we donāt get purged out of the system. This is so very frustrating! Iām sorry others are having this issue too.
I think we will ask our attorney to send copies of the Apostilled documents so AIMA will see we have done everything to be compliant. Iām not sure I want the originals to get swallowed up into a black hole. Noraa, can you please let me know what address your attorney sends your documents to?
Yes, I meant certified copies. To the best of my understanding, lawyers in Portugal can act as notaries and therefore can certify the validity of document copies and send those to AIMA. I am not sure of the address, but I assume the main offices in Lisbon.
Thank you, Noraa. I will keep you posted as well.
Hi there. My lawyer used to say aima dont accept anyone. But then she sent someone to loja, and the portal opened immediately
That was 40 days ago
Hi, thank you for reaching out. Iāve mentioned that to my attorney and she replied they are no longer allowing in person visits at Lojas. Whether that is the case or my attorney just doesnāt want to do it, I donāt know. If someone on here has had success in the past 15 days with Lojas, I would appreciate any input.
Tell your lawyer that you are ready to pay any amounts if she can find someone who can try to walk in and resolve it. Maybe someone would go, wait, try and get lucky. Pay only on success fee. Let us know what she says
I paid my lawyer for that service
Thanks
Thanks to this forum, I feel like I am more informed than my attorney at this point.
Last week, my attorney sent a certified copy of all our updated and Apostilled documents to AIMAās office in Lisbon. She also included a letter inquiring about the change in our statusāfrom āawaiting submissionā to āawaiting analysis.ā
While I donāt expect this to speed things up, the main goal is to ensure AIMA knows weāve met all our obligations and to help prevent our application from being purged from the system. Hopefully, we havenāt lost our place in line (or wonāt have to re-Apostille everything), but time will tell.
Iāll continue to keep you posted.
Sounds like a PITA - good luck. Truly nothing AIMA does inspires confidence.
