I cancelled my tax representation in Portugal a few months ago. After signing up for email notifications on Portal das Finanças, I sent a request on the website to remove my tax rep. When a government employee replied one day later, I did receive an email saying the request has been completed / the ticket has been closed. So far, email notifications worked as expected.
I just logged in and noticed that my 2024 IMI notice is now available, and has been available since mid April. Again, this is as expected. But I was surprised that I didn’t receive any email notifications at all. Is this normal? Do I need to tick another box somewhere?
Something strange is going on with IMI notices this year, methinks.
By this time last year I had paid all my 2023 IMI.
This year the 2024 details only became available for me on Portal das Finanças in the past week, and it’s still in “Pendente de Emissão” status so I can’t pay it yet. I haven’t received an email about 2024 IMI - perhaps because it’s not payable yet.
Despite all that, 1st instalment is still due in 20 days!
Thanks! Did you receive an email last year when 2023 IMI became payable?
Mine (for 2024) has status of “2 - Emitida” (on page “NOTAS COBRANÇA”, field “Situação”) and the “PAGAR” button is available on page “Pagamentos a decorrer”, so it looks payable, but no email.
BTW, it seems payment deadline is now end of June:
Erm… I vaguely remember getting an IMI notice email last year, but not sure.
I did get an email this March for Imposto Único de Circulação (IUC) on the car. That was before the big blackout that seems to have messed up Finanças’ systems so. I see in the comments to that story you posted that other people are also unable to pay their IMI.
