Preapproval timing

12 weeks seems to be on average. So you should have gotten it. I think it also depends on the center. which one was yours ?

My lawyer said 3-4 months, submitting this week or next hopefully, just waiting on some translations

Our final bits (family reunification apps) were just submitted, and our lawyer said they are seeing a period of 10-12 weeks for the analysis step.

Mine took very long. 8 months from submission to pre-approval.

Still waiting - my submission was middle-to-end of July, so at about 4.5 months now.

Individual application data/timelines have been shared at : Awaiting Pre-Approval (Stage 2) (supplemented by) SEF processing time for initial application?
There was slow but steady movement on pre-approvals in January and much of February 2022, despite the election, budget not approved, and no Government in office. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, SEF have been processing refugee requests, (the volume and need prompting them to volunteer free time). Activity on the SEF-ARI portal is halted. https://www.noticiasaominuto.com/pais/1964043/mais-de-24-mil-refugiados-da-ucrania-com-protecao-temporaria-em-portugal.
The majority Socialist Party Government will be sworn in tomorrow, and all signs are that the budget will be discussed as early as possible thereafter. SEF now comes under the new Minister of Internal Affairs -José Luís Carneiro, No 2 in the Party machine. Unfortunately, in most countries, being head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs involves frequent sips from a poisoned chalice. SEF have already requested that he re-evaluate their extinction - approved by Parliament, with implementation postponed to May 2022. Something to watch.

Total GV approvals (and consequently GV/ARI’s contribution to the country’s coffers) declined in March 2022 compared with January & February 2022 approvals: https://www.sef.pt/pt/pages/conteudo-detalhe.aspx?nID=93.

I applied on 30 November 2021. As per my lawyers early November applications are now being processed, so we should get to know by end of May or early June 2022. However even after pre approval there is a long wait for Biometrics, I read in some forums that Q1 2021 pre approvals are now been given appointments for Biometrics. So I don’t expect to receive a biometrics appointment before Q1 2023. The GV process is a long one and probably takes close to a year and half (at the minimum) from application to resident cards.

FYI we’ve created a form to collect all important key dates of the application process including application submission to pre-approval. Would appreciate if folks here could add there dates here (you can re-submit as you progress):

Thanks!
