PT Residence Card - Incorrect Name Printed

My lawyers got my PT residence card, but unfortunately the name on the card was printed incorrectly. One of my middle names was written as my last name, and my last name was placed together with my first name.

I informed my lawyers immediately who tried reaching out to AIMA, but it’s been 2 months with no response from AIMA.

Is there anything I can do about this? While I have visa free access to Schengen, I presume I’ll face difficulties using this card flying in/out after exceeding the 90-in-180 days limit.

We had a similar issue, my wife’s card was printed with the wrong gender. We pointed that out to our lawyer, who went to the local AIMA office (Madeira) to get it corrected. We had a new card in about 3 weeks. So you should be able to get a corrected card issued without too much of a wait.

Just wondering if there is any update on the card? I also just received my card, but my last name is printed as the first name and first name printed as last name.

Not sure if it’s ok for me to enter with this card?

Thanks.

Hello Jim,

Is your lawyer physically based in Madeira? My card with incorrect NIF was issued by Funchal despite the biometrics in Lisbon, but my lawyer is Lisbon-based. She wrote an e-mail to Funchal office requesting correction, but so far - nothing. Any advice?

Thank you.

Hi - I have a similar problem. It’s a tiny misspelling on one of my middle names (think Charls instead of Charles ). Any idea how long it took to get a replacement ? I don’t have visa free access to Schengen area so this is somewhat annoying- maybe a small probability of problems going through passport control.

Ryan

Mine had an incorrect NIF printed on the back, and took 55 calendar days to correct in 2024 through my lawyer.
