it is great to have biometrics but main question is when will they issue the card? I applied 2023 august and bio next june. waiting almost three years for bio, I do not want to wait another three years for the card.

No one knows. Waiting years for the cards seems possible, but who knows.

I also applied March 2023 and refreshed documents this past April. I received notice through my attorney that AIMA scheduled my biometrics appointment for February 6, 2026 in Lisbon. Waiting to hear about my wife and children’s appointment. I did not receive a notice directly from AIMA, only attorney.

it’s incredible how variable things are. I applied the first week of September and my payment wasn’t even acknowledged until last week. My family’s applications were submitted and paid for a week ago and are still awaiting confirmation of payment. it’s a bit absurd to see people who applied barely a month ago already having biometrics appointments schedule.

How long did it take for your payment to be “acknowledged?”

My daughter’s and mine (primary) was acknowledged in 2 days. My wife’s application is still “awaiting application submission” for more than a month now. My lawyer said lots of applications are stuck in this state and they were communicating with AIMA about it.

Yes it seems like unexplained delays can hit anytime during the process and there are many steps. Hope you get your appointment notification soon

I was awaiting payment confirmation for 2 months. My family has now been waiting a week.

If anyone gets a biometrics appt for their spouses/dependents, please let us know the dates of your applications and also your appointments. I’m trying to figure out whether I should wait a few weeks to make travel arrangements for the entire family (or just me now).

I get the “logic” in doing all the primary applicants first, but personally I’d rather wait a few extra weeks/months to go together, as we are a family of four.

Not yet.
My agent suggested me only to book my trip at the moment.

Application went in March 2025 for me + spouse. Received notice of AIMA appointment scheduled for January 9, 2026. No appointment for spouse yet.

Initial application march 2023 , refreshed my documents last April, no appointment received by my lawyer, i am wondering if anyone is having the same situation or they are still rolling out appointments.

I would recommend asking your lawyer over and over again. Mine was sitting with my lawyers inbox and only heard from them after my 3rd reminder. They got massive amounts of appointment mails and some not communicated with the clients

Thank you , i am doing that will keep following up, is there a way to check the appointment from Aima portal or only way is to receive an email?

I submitted in April 2023, refreshed documents in February 2025. No appointment (yet).

I’m scared of getting hopeful from your reply haha. I sent two follow-ups. I’vebeen ignored so far. Are you with Mercan?When did your lawyer reply/forward the notification?

Heard from my lawyer yesterday and this is their current direction re: family members:

Regarding Family Members

Please note that this appointment is only for the main applicant.
At this stage, AIMA has not yet released appointments for most family members, and therefore we cannot guarantee that they will be attended on the same day or time.

However, some AIMA branches might — in specific cases — accept family members under an “overbooking regime.”
Although this is not common to occur, if you wish to attempt this option (not guaranteed):

  • Stay in Portugal for at least 3 business days counting from your appointment date;
  • Be aware that attendance for family members cannot be guaranteed and there is not action we can take to request it now;
  • Please inform us as soon as possible if your family will accompany you, so that we can prepare their files.

In my case they responded last Monday that they are still waiting for my appointment i don’t have clarity if all their clients have gotten their appointments or not

In the webinar yesterday where Prime Legal was a part of, Sara said that 90% of their clients have received biometric appointments for primary applicants. So, while it sucks, you’re not alone. Hopefully everyone gets one soon.
