What do you mean by family reunification? Do you means family members of the main person who also hold golden visas?
Yes, sorry, meant it only worked for primary applicant and I couldn’t submit a renewal request for my family members’ visas
A thread specific to tracking emails from AIMA added here: Wiki: Email Notification Tracking for Pre-July 2025 Renewal Applicants on AIMA portal - #2 by Garbonzo
Apologies for being late to the (renewal) party. Is there any consensus whatsoever for how long people are waiting before they: a) get an appointment and b) actually receive the new card from AIMA?
My wife and I have started the conversation on whether it will be feasible to remain in Portugal if the proposed legislation is passed in its worst possible form.
How did it come to this…
Good news, renewal scheduled for 27aug in Porto. I can go by myself.
Hello Leonardo, congratulations on your appointment. Did you apply via the new AIMA portal? Has your card already expired? If so, on what date? Last question: did you receive your appointment by email? Thank you.
Yes, by the new portal. Card will expire end July. Yes, answer by email.
Thank you and good luck.
Hello Leonardo. So does it mean AIMA gave about 6 weeks. Will you have to submit the police record? Because it takes a few weeks to get it.
My card expired on October 2024. I send AIMA an email last week but haven’t received a reply.
Based on some quick calculations, here is an estimate of when you will be notified of your dependent renewal by email:
card expiration through:
6/2023 - notification by 5 August 2025
10/2024 - notification by 9 September 2025
6/2025 - notification by 15 Oct 2025
We know that a significant number of applications entered the system 2021 Dec and assuming 20 months to first cards, that would put those renewals outside of this renewal process eligibility. We can also make educated guesses from this process certain other critical elements, but I will share my thoughts on those at a future time.
I don’t think there is any pattern here. @henry77 's card expired in Oct 24 and he has still not received his renewal. Mine expired on 29 April 25 and I received an appt for Sep 2025. @Leonardo_Filipe_Viei 's card is not yet expired and his appt is on 27 Aug. Another friend’s card expired in June this year and his appt is on 29 Aug.
Can’t see any pattern.
Hi Zayd, just curious if you’ve received your cards yet.
My dependent had her initial biometrics appointment around mid April but no news until now.
Greetings!
How were you able to get a renewal? Did your lawyer do it for you? Did you receive an email that let you use the online renewal portal?
Thanks!
Leonardo is on a different path. He’s on the portal for July 2025 expirations (and soon, later expirations). You’re on the path of already expired permits, and you have to wait until AIMA emails you, when you get directed to a different portal.
There is some evidence that IRN is/was still scheduling some renewals, and more than a little suspicion that they will be canceled.
My card expired in January and I do not have a renewal appointment.
However, I heard that you only need to attend an appointment if your biometrics were last collected more than 5 years ago. Is that information correct?
Hello Tandon, did you use the new AIMA portal for your appointment?
So how are people living with expired permits? Anyone leaving Portugal on an expired permit? Any issues if so? Does life continue as normal?
So many questions, so few answers…
@Sonny No updates as of yet for cards. I’m going to wait about 3.5 months and then reach out to my lawyers to see if there is an update. Hope yours get’s sorted soon.
