I got the same error message when I tried to create an account for my son on the Renewals Portal. The contact form at https://contactenos.aima.gov.pt/contact-form offers an option to report issues like the one presented on the Renewals Portal.
I just received an email from AIMA informing me I have an ARI renewal appointment, and because my biometrics are within 10 years, so i do not need to attend in person and my lawyer can attend for me. BUT, my wife (dependant) did not receive the email, so i think this is due to the fact that contactenos form does not allow dependant fill-in the form and so i wonder if anyone had same experience? could anyone share their exp, does your dependant automatically have the same appointment as they primary applicant?
I filled out the contact form today, and the request was successfully submitted. When filling out the request for my wife and children, the form displays an error, preventing the process from being completed.
Right, if your card expired before July 2025 you are supposed to just sit and wait for an appointment email from AIMA, i.e. without you requesting anything. Although I am personally not convinced that passively ‘waiting for AIMA’ is a good strategy..
you are not alone here, i have the same issue, and i think this is an error everyone faces filling in for dependants
you need to fill in an online form (contactenos.aima.gov.pt) to be able to be contacted by AIMA, i think.
I got an appointment email today for an appointment in mid Sep, i filled the form for my self (my wife was unsuccessful) back in end of June, early July.
When did your card expire?
My wife and I have cards expiring in early August
I wonder what exactly the lawyer will submit at the appointment. If there is a clear list of all required documents, someone living in Portugal can do it himself without paying lawyer. Not sure Aima is ever going to publish more clear instruction.
Of course there is a clear PDF list of renewal requirements published by SEF per each GV path. It was posted here a few times before.
yes there is, but you have to be very comfident of your PT speaking and listerning skills to go to AIMA without a lawyer as backup
Can you please post the link?
Thank you very much.
i think it is this link: Arquivo.pt
It is not a list of required documents for renewal.
Hi - whats docs have they asked for? Usual police cert and marriage cert for wife’s application or nothing at all?
Thx
my lawyer asks me to provide non-criminal reports of both of us and all apostilled in Portuguese. And also a single Marriage status report apostilled in Portuguese.
I ran into the same message today.
The difference is that I submitted successfully that form last week, uploading only the Passport Scan and Permit (front/back), as I did not have a Power of Attorney yet.
I tried to submit again today with the Power of Attorney and got the same message as you.
I will ask my lawyers how can we verify the date of the “appointment” to confirm there’s actually one, and obviously the DATE/TIME so I have time to get my Criminal Record ready.
Any reports of people entering and exiting Portugal on an expired residency card? Schengen? Non-Schengen? Thx.
I arrived in Portugal yesterday from Brazil on a direct flight with a card that expired in May 2025. No problems with immigration.
