@Andrew77 Correct me if I am wrong, but you don’t have an appointment yet. So when you lawyer says “at this stage,” it may be because there’s no point in getting a new FBI report now since your appointment, when assigned, may not be within 90 days of the new report.
I would appreciate your guidance on a situation I am currently facing. I completed my biometric appointment last week in Braga; however, AIMA has not scheduled an appointment for my family at the same time, stating that their data is not available in their system.
Unfortunately, my lawyer has not been able to resolve this issue effectively. Could you please advise on how I can enroll my family in the IRA portal so their details are reflected in AIMA’s system for the next appointment request?
@tkrunning
If I want to run some statistics after June 30, 2025 based on the database, is there a field that allows folks to input when they’ve submitted refreshed documents as part of AIMA’s “new process”?
Below is what I’m thinking…
Filtered by:
Main applicants
Submitted refreshed documents by June 30, 2025
No lawsuits, or lawsuits unsuccessful and case closed
Slice and dice by:
The year original application was submitted (2022/2023/2024)
The month refreshed documents were submitted (Jan/Feb/Mar/Apr/May/Jun 2025)
Data:
% that have been notified of a biometrics appointment (even if the appointment is scheduled after June 30, e.g. scheduled in July or September or whenever)
I was just told that my legal injunction (suing AIMA option) has basically failed because “The legal injunction is currently only working if you live in Portugal”
And I could only succeed if I “relocate and become a tax resident. And have accommodation (purchase of property or lease)”
This is very likely to be true. I’m not sure if it’s of any comfort to you, but I filed to sue AIMA for final approval in September 2024. I won the case in November 2024, and we were granted biometrics appointments in for January 2025 which we attended. Since then, we have still been waiting on our final approval and cards.
Our law firm had pretty much said the same thing as you have stated, that the judges now are rejecting cases to sue AIMA. However, you may be no better off necessarily as winning a case has made no difference to our timelines so far.
Our law firm is constantly contacting AIMA, with no positive news so far.
Last week I wrote an email to my law firm, asking about if any one got an appointment after updating documents this year. I got the reply from the firm : no one. I was so upset…
Our lawyer sent us the following update last week:
“This week, we received communication from AIMA instructing the unblocking of a client’s portal and confirming the scheduling of their appointment. This client is facing a similar situation to yours, and we have been in contact with AIMA about this matter for the same duration. This is positive news, indicating that AIMA is beginning to address these cases.”
So Basically AIMA forgot about the GV applications AGAIN after making us re-upload the documents again because they previously forgot about us for so long that the documents expired?
They had a client (applied in 2021) with a blocked portal. The lawyers emailed AIMA daily. Last week, AIMA unblocked the portal and confirmed the scheduling of their appointment.
Our lawyer said the same - that, for now, all the documents we submitted during the resubmission process are valid. Therefore, when we receive an appointment, we will need to bring these documents.
But the documents submitted for the first time in 2022 are no longer valid.
We have been waiting for an update since we submitted our refreshed docs in April 2025.
