Expired residency card validity has been extended (again) until Oct 15th 2025.

The proposed process seems different from previous extensions "people with expired documents will be contacted by the Agency for Immigration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) for the payment of the renewal fee, which will automatically give the document another six months of validity"

You should cancel your application too if it passes. D7 is a much cheaper way to get residency in Portugal.

Initial application Sept 2022.
Did biometrics yesterday (June 27 2025) in Lisbon. Husband and wife together. No dependants. Mercan/IAS ran everything very smoothly. All documents had been resubmitted immediately after being requested byAIMA.
Note: Please make sure you have several methods of payment. My HSBC Global Money card worked well for my payment.

I did not file any lawsuits.
is your status changed to transferred immediately, my bio done almost 2 months ago. status change to transtted on the same day, but no news after that for card , is there any way we can check status of the card or any falta ?
Received notification March 2025.
Sorry, canât name people (lawyers) on here without their prior permission.
I canât check my status, the lawyers do all that. I just get on with my life - IAS have done all they can ( great job so far) and will let me know when the cards arrive , should be 2-3 mths .

No new biometric appointments heard for months.

Initial application sent in September 2022. Wife plus two dependents.
Two lawsuits (first one denied in April 2024; second one was filed on advice of attorney in October 2024 after a favorable superior court ruling would apply to me).

Iâll chime in as one more datapoint, for whatever itâs worth (I suspect not much).
Initial Application Submitted in June 2022 (during the rush when the portal reopened).
No Pre-Approval or any movement afterwards.
Refreshed Documents early May 2025.
Unsurprisingly, no Notification of Biometrics Appointment received so far.
My resubmission was unnecessarily delayed by nearly 6 weeks due to unexpected issues with my bank and additional documents requests, but it sounds like those extra weeks wouldnât have made a huge difference anyway.
